Quick Progress Update

Hey, it's been almost a year since I posted on here, so I figured I would give a quick update. I have just a few more months left of my senior year, which means I had better get going on my list again. Since I last posted, I have:
  • Worked with Liam to plan the song parody. Liam has planned the video and written the song lyrics. Together, we found a choreographer as well as backup singers and dancers. Recording should come around really soon.
  • Come 25 pounds away from my parallel squat goal
  • Come 15 pounds away from my power clean goal
  • Read about 3/4 of the Book of Mormon in Spanish
Things are coming along, but I still need to pick up the pace!

Dance with Liam

So when I was coming up with things on this list, I had this idea. I told Kim, and she thought that it was really funny. She mostly thought it was funny because we wouldn't tell Liam what it was. I just told him that he would have to wait until the next church dance to find out. This drove him absolutely crazy for the following month. I swear that he thought I was going to kill him or something. So, time for the dance came I was excited to surprise him, and let him know that it really wasn't going to be as bad as he thought.  On January 14, 2012 he found out what was in store. All I did was dance with him during a song that was not a slow song. As soon as I knew that he and Kim were at the dance, I grabbed Kim and we ran to go get the camera. I totally surprised him when I asked him to dance out of the blue during a fast/group dance song.

He was pretty surprised, can't you tell? His reaction was priceless, and I owe Kim big time for getting this awesome response. It was lots of fun to surprise him, and everyone around was really confused and asked what we were doing, but that was the real fun of it all!

Yup! We definitely had lots of fun that night as we went against the grain and tried out something new. He did find out that it wasn't really as bad as he thought, much to his surprise! But how much worse could it really have been?

Car with Musical Name

Thing number one is crossed off of my list! I now have a car with a musically related name. I got is on December 2, 2011. It is a 1991 Honda Predule. My wonderful car is the cutest little beat up 22 year old sports car that I could possibly ask for. I decided at the beginning of this semester (the very first day) to name it Flynn after the dashing Flynn Rider. I thought it was pretty classy, but my brother who will be the next "owner" of the car dissaproved. This car has every single feature that I thought was so cool as a little kid. Those features are:
  • Sun roof
  • Pop up/batman lights
  • Two doors (not four)
  • Seatbelts in the doors
I think that those are all the features that I wanted in a car as a little kid. Here is the "photo evidence" of my car. I am showing off the lights and sunroof in the pictures:

So I know that I look a little crazy, but you get the point. And yes, the front and left of my car have been spray painted to "match" the rest of the car, but not by me. It drives great besides the speedometer that has been messed up here in the last month. But that's okay because I still love my adorable Flynn.

The List

Ever Wanted to do something crazy, but needed an excuse to do it? I did, so two of my friends, Liam and Kim, helped me come up with the idea of having a senior bucket list. It started with my insane desire to stand in the turn lane outside of my school's seminary building.  This was to have several other crazy things added to it until it became a list of the crazy things that I would try to do before graduating from high school. I decided to document all the crazy things that I did in a journal. Using a blog do document everything ended up being much more efficient than a journal, and a whole lot more fun. Plus, it's a whole lot easier to just upload a picture to the computer than go through the process of printing the pictures. I wanted to have photo "evidence" of everything, so this was going to be necessary one way or another.  So, this was basically just an excuse to do many crazy things in as little of time as possible.

Here is the list we created for me to accomplish:

  • Stand in the turn lane outside the seminary building
  • Have a car with a musical name 12/2/11
  • Record a mormon parody of "Womanizer" with Liam
  • Dance with Liam during a fast song 1/14/12
  • Make a 3' by 5' finger painting
  • Read Book of Mormon in Spanish
  • Participate in a flash mob
  • Power Clean at least 100 pounds
  • Parallel squat at least 200 pounds
  • Chase a rainbow
  • Pull an "all-nighter"
